The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) through its five programmes. With over 100 member organisations in 81 countries and recognised by UNESCO and other UN organisations as a global leader in the fields of Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development, FEE and its members are dedicated to changing the way people see and interact with their environments through our school-based programmes: Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE), Eco-Schools and Learning about Ecosystems and Forests (LEAF). In the tourism sector our two eco-label programmes, the Blue Flag and Green Key, are known around the world, offering support to the growing number of individuals who make environmental credibility a central criterion in their travels.

As a FEE member, your organisation is entitled to run our programmes at the national level. New members start as Associate Members and are expected to start by implementing, a minimum of one FEE programme. Within five years of membership, at least two FEE programmes must be fully implemented. Once this occurs, the organisation will become a Full Member. To support new members through the initial stages of establishing our programmes, every new member is matched with a mentor. Mentors are usually drawn from the FEE Board of Directors and are experts in the fields of business, environment and education. Becoming a member not only ensures that you receive support in implementing FEE’s programmes, but it also grants you access to a global network comprised of dedicated organisations in the environmental and sustainability sectors.
