International Schools
Sign up your International Schools to FEE Educational Programmes
The process by which International Schools apply to join the 3 Educational Programmes by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) depends on whether the school is based in a country where FEE has a member organisation running our Educational Programmes or not.
The registration window for new International Schools wanting to join FEE’s Educational Programmes is open from 1st December to 31st January
Before registering your school, please ensure you have sufficient support from the School Principal and staff of the school and you are eligible to register directly with FEE Head Office. Unsure? Please refer to the ‘Who can Join’ section below
About The FEE Educational programmes
Eco-Schools is the largest global sustainable schools programme – it starts in the classroom and expands to the community by engaging the next generation in action-based learning. The Eco-Schools programme is designed to suit all schools whether they are a nursery, primary school, secondary school, further education college, university or a school with special status.
Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) gives young people a platform to research environmental issues and promote solutions. The programme empowers young people to take an educated stand on environmental issues they feel strongly about and gives them a platform to articulate these issues through the social media and journalism such as article writing, photography, video making or podcasts.
Learning about Ecosystems and Forests (LEAF) advocates outdoor learning and hands-on experiences which result in the pupils getting a deeper and more involved understanding of the natural world. While the focus of the LEAF programme is on tree-based ecosystems, the skills and knowledge acquired can be applied to any natural environment.
Who Can Join
There are two ways in which an International School can become part of the FEE Network.
International schools in countries with a FEE member organisation:
Please get in touch with the National Operator and apply directly with the National Operator to join the programmes.
To see if your school is located in a country with a National Operator and for contact details, please click here.
International Schools in countries without a FEE member organisation:
International Schools can register directly with the FEE Head Office if the school meets the following criteria:
A multinational and multilingual student body,
An international curriculum,
International accreditation (e.g. CIS, IBO, North Eastern ASC, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, etc.),
A transient and multinational teacher population,
Bilingual language of instruction.
-
International Schools in countries without a National Operator may register below for the fee of 1000 EUR (500 EUR/year, paid for 2 years in advance). We strongly believe that savings from the programme activities will help meet this cost!
The registration renewal fee (after 2 years) reduces to 850 EUR every 2 years.
The registration of a school refers to the campuses in the same area. Campuses in separate areas (more than 10 kms away) are counted as separate schools.
When applying for the Green Flag Award under the Eco-Schools programme, usually after 2 years of implementing the programme, there is a 400 EUR fee to cover the school assessment (plus travel costs for the assessor, when applicable). There are no additional fees for participation in the YRE International Competition
How to join the YRE Programme as an International School
FEE Head Office will be your National Operator for all purposes and admin including submissions for the YRE International Competition.
Any questions? Contact International Schools Coordinator francesca@fee.global if you want to run the FEE Programmes in your International School. Join during the Registration Window: 1st December - 31st January
