Our Programmes
At the heart of the Foundation for Environmental Education are our five programmes. Coordinated by the Head Office in Copenhagen and implemented by our members around the world, our programmes aim to bring positive change on a global scale.
Our educational programmes, Eco-Schools, LEAF and Young Reporters for the Environment, use a solution-based approach to empower young people to create a more environmentally conscious world. Our Green Key and Blue Flag initiatives are known across the world for their promotion of sustainable business practices and the protection of our valuable natural resources.
Blue Flag
The iconic Blue Flag is one of the world’s most recognised voluntary eco-labels awarded to beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators. In order to qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.
Eco-Schools
Eco-Schools is the largest global sustainable schools programme – it starts in the classroom and expands to the community by engaging the next generation in action-based learning.
Learning about Ecosystems and Forests
Learning about Ecosystems and Forests advocates outdoor learning and hands-on experiences which result in the pupils getting a deeper and more involved understanding of the natural world. While the focus of the LEAF programme is on tree-based ecosystems, the skills and knowledge acquired can be applied to any natural environment.
Young Reporters for the Environment
The Young Reporters for the Environment programme gives young people a platform to research environmental issues and promote solutions through investigative reporting, photography, and video journalism.
